In-kind donations are a big part of our ministry at Friends of the Poor, and you can know that your items are going to be put to good use. Donated items are given away at no cost to our clients. They come for many reasons: to rebuild after a fire or after having a home condemned, to find new clothing for growing children, or simply to browse while they wait for their grocery bag.

We are always looking for donations of food, clothing, and household items to give out to our clients and there is always a need. These items can be dropped off at our main pantry at Jackson Terrace. The address is 148 Meridian Ave and directions can be found on our directions page. We have volunteers at the pantry from 8am to 3:30 pm every day who are available to assist you when you drop off items and provide you with a receipt for tax purposes. If you are unable to transport the donation to us due to size, please contact the office via phone or e-mail and we can assist you.

Donations of furniture are also a great asset to our organization because we are the only organization in Scranton that gives away donated furniture to families and individuals in need. If you would like to donate furniture, please call our office at 348-4429 or 348-4428. Once we know the items you are donating, the address, name and phone number, we will schedule you for pick-up as soon as possible.

Appropriate donations of clothing, furniture and household items may be consigned to raise funds to cover the rent in our furniture warehouse.

Monetary donations go towards supporting our many programs throughout the year. These include funding for our holiday dinners and food baskets, regular food for our pantries, our after school program, and emergency assistance for the many people who come to our office looking for help.
